Elegant pair of Bauhaus cantilever lounge chairs, handmade during the 1930s - 1940s in Germany, when tubular steel furniture became a symbol of modern architecture and progressive design.

The chairs follow the revolutionary cantilever concept developed in the late 1920s by Bauhaus pioneers, where the elimination of the rear legs creates a light, floating structure that flexes subtly with the sitter. The chrome tubular steel frame forms a graceful loop from the backrest into the sled base, giving the chairs their distinctive modernist silhouette.

Warm wooden armrests with a beautiful patine. Seat and back panels upholstered with high-quality leatherette provide a refined contrast to the steel structure. The underside reveals traditional upholstery techniques with woven jute webbing and a wooden seat frame.

In excellent condition with signs of age in line with their age. Structurally very sound, leatherette in near-mint condition. Chrome very good, with fading/light rust here and there.

Dimensions:

WxDxH: 64cm x 76cm x 79cm - Seating height: 40cm

Sold as a set of two.

A beautiful and authentic pair that captures the spirit of early modernist design.
